South East Freestyle & Rock'n'Roll qualifiers 2015

Wow, where do I start ......
I was secretly dreading this weekend. It's been a rough ride for me and Kels lately. Our uncle recently passed, our mum is battling now in her 5th week of radiotherapy and chemotherapy after her brain tumour and then the wonderful arrival of beautiful Niamh. It's been a roller coaster!
Add in work, kids and their activities, gcses and sats and my stress levels have been mental.
Still we made it and In the gentle calm of my house at the mo, it was great. It's actually nice to see my husband as I've been demon dance teacher since Friday evening.

I am so immensely proud of you all. The new kids on the block are exciting and I look forward to many happy years with you all. You all looked hooked now!
To put into perspective, those fabulous helpers that danced with your kids were once all rosettes just like yours and they get just as much enjoyment dancing with yours as they did years ago.

Thanks to Michaela and Claire for the teas! Plus a whole lot more, support and back up. They too joined us as fresh faced little dancers. So you see,to us our pupils are way more than just pupils. Thanks to Austen,Mitch, moo Lulu and Ciara for being my fun buddies. They kept me sane and make me laugh. Austen falling of the chair and flattening my cake was hilarious. The he brings down his revision opens the page and it was reproduction! !

SOLOS
Solos are never our thing and they go on forever. However, well done to Moo in getting 3rd out of all those girls. Dancing 6 rounds. We have joked today saying she's never worn that costume for so long!!! Grit and determination got her that. That's my girl xx
Little Maddie also made her first final and although nerves got the better of her she achieved 8th in her very first final xx

SLOW DANCE
Moo, Ellen and Phoebe were a brilliant surprise in the slow making them the first pupils to ever represent footsteps at Blackpool in this event. All 3 girls are such hard workers and I'm so glad their efforts paid off. Moo then was awarded 3rd place in the finals. She was being coached by the boys on the sideline!! X
Then it all happens.....

ROSETTE & STARDANCE
Enter Rosette and Stardance roll. As a school, we have an awesome reputation in these events with UK champs, South East champs and many runners up and nationwide finalists. The newbies followed the rules and those ten minute lesson s paid off.

PAIRS
In the pairs section Julia and Eloise had a blinding day reaching the 14 to 17 final with 6th. Very exciting couple xx
Austen & Brooke won the Boy/Girl and Moo & Mitch 2nd. The were asked yesterday about rivalry, no they all replied. All 4 are such splendid kids who I love dearly. Remember they have danced together for so long. Moo started dancing with Mitch when she was 5! X
Chris & Harriet came 2nd in their pairs x think Chris was still buzzing about Chelsea x

ROCK 'N'ROLL
Billy and Charlotte were fantastic in the 9 and under roll achieving 5th. Another new and potentially fantastic partnership.
Abz and Mia danced with fight and personality gaining 3rd in the 13 and under girl section.
Grace and Olivia did the same as they did last year in winning the 14 to 17 girl. They are morgans flicksperation as she calls them!!! Well deserved as always girls.
Julie and Eloise continued their fantastic day with a 3rd. Well done girls x
Chris and Harriet are 3rd in the 18 to 25 man lady category.
Moo and Mitch 1st roll with Austen and Brooke 2nd. X
Lulu and Ciara 2nd in the 18 to 25 lady lady category and I can tell you how nervous Lulu was as she was sat next to me. X she needn't have been x

South East Street Finals 2015

Last Sunday some of our pupils competed at the IDTA nationwide Finals in Birmingham. They had all competed at the South East qualifiers and had been chosen to represent the area so a great achievement already. The standard was superb, particularly the quads which was unbelievable.
Some of these events start with almost 100 kids in it (all having qualified fro their own area) and we had some fantastic results.

Austen came 3rd in his solo and this was to be the start of a great day for him.
Lulu reached the semi final of hers and I thought she thoroughly deserved a final placing.
Charli and Olivia reached the quarter finals in the 10 to 13 pairs in an extremely tough comp.
Ciara and Olivia also reached the quarter finals in their pairs. The standard of this was something else!!
Morgan and Austen came 5th in their pairs and they were awesome.
The quads were very exciting. Abz, Mia, Charli and Olivia were competing for the first time as a quad and I have never seen the girls dance so well. In an age group where they have a few years left to compete, they were brilliant and reached the top 10 in a semi final. They were fantastic. Chloe, Phi, Julia and Jenna were also competing for the first time as quad and also made the semi finals nd although they were disappointed to not have made the finals, they were fantastic. They now move to an older age group with fire in their bellies and the start of a great quad.
Moo, Austen, Ciara and Olivia came 4th and this placing really doesn't do them. justice unless you were there to witness the standard of this final. I knew it would take something amazing to beat them and they were. They could not have danced any better.

I am so proud of each child, those that haven't been mentioned too. Everyone achieved recalls and were immaculately behaved after a 5 am start and a 10.30 finish!!!!
Well done to you all. You should be very proud Smiling face with open mouth and tightly closed eyesSmiling face with open mouth and tightly closed eyesSmiling face with open mouth and tightly closed eyes.

Blackpool Nationwide Finals 2014

For those that didn't know why we were absent Saturday, we were competing at the IDTA nationwide UK FINALS in Blackpool.

For a brief overview. ....The South East hold their qualifier competition in May where they compete to represent the area in Blackpool in November. They choose 12 to 15 couples for this accolade. So the pupils that competed this weekend had already competed successfully regionally for this opportunity to compete nationally. A huge accomplishment in itself.

The standard on the whole is outstanding and appears to get better and better every year.
I am so pleased to announce that we have new UK CHAMPION in the star dance rock n roll in Mia Scannelli and she will be added to the role of honour.

Mitchell and Morgan became UK Runner up in Rock n roll.
Lucy and Ellen came 3rd in Rock n roll
Mitchell and Morgan 4th freestyle pair's
Austen and Brooke 5th freestyle pairs
Chris and Harriet 5th freestyle pairs
Austen and Brooke 5th rock n roll
Lucy and Vicki 5th rock n roll
Jasmine 6th rosette 6-8 rock n roll
So many finalists, it's actually very impressive.

A mention to the following that achieved so much I reaching semi finals (top 10), Jasmine freestyle solo, Amber and Solenne rock n roll, Charlotte rosette rock n roll, Abbie Mia star dance rock n roll, Vicki slow dance. They all danced so many rounds and to leave the competition so close to finals is gut wrenching.

Well done to you all, those I haven't mentioned too. Kelly and I are so very proud of you all.
Thank you to all their parents for their fantastic loyalty and support.

Love you all
Janine x

P's a little mention to Ella Rose and Amelia in their first outing at Blackpool. No fear, those two!!!!
